British Waterways has begun to unlock the high potential value of these sites as visitor destinations, where people will come to enjoy the experience, spend their money, and help generate additional income that can be reinvested in the waterways.
Promoting Inland Waterways - waterscape.com
In June 2003, we launched waterscape.com, a wholly-owned subsidiary that promotes all UK waterways by offering a wide range of waterway-related information as well as goods and services via the Internet, including:
- route planners to help people plan a boat trip, walk or cycle ride
- comprehensive listings for holiday hire boats and waterside holiday cottages, including the facility for online booking
- information on pubs and restaurants
- information on visitor attractions, local history and wildlife
