Limehouse Quay: our plans
British Waterways and London Thames Gateway Development Corporation aim to transform a section of water space within Limehouse Basin into a thriving base for an active cluster of commercial, leisure and community boating businesses.
The section is located on the northern edge of the basin, near the entrance to the Regent’s Canal. This area is located next to Stevenson’s Railway Viaduct, which now carries the Docklands Light Railway and gives open views across Limehouse Basin.
One aspiration is for Limehouse Quay to be a passenger service business linking Limehouse Basin to Bromley-by-Bow and Old Ford, adjacent to the Olympic Park. Other facilities could include a restaurant boat, floating classroom and berthing for a Thames Sailing charter barge.
Wider plans, which don’t form part of this opportunity, include an extension and improvement of the marina to increase the numbers of visitor, leisure and residential moorings and an improved base for boats in Limehouse Basin.
