Limehouse Quay: our partners

London Thames Gateway Development Corporation (LTGDC) is the Government’s lead regeneration agency for the Lower Lea Valley and London Riverside; the two areas with the greatest potential for growth in London and in the Thames Gateway.

Created in 2004, work is focused on eight key locations where the commercial market has failed to renew communities and create new high quality environments and where intervention will make the biggest difference. Projects in these key locations are designed to encourage other public and private sector organisations to invest in the area. LTGDC aims to secure long lasting benefits for existing and new communities in east London.

Although LTGDC areas face major social and physical challenges, they benefit both from the unrivalled potential of the waterways of the River Thames and River Lea and open spaces, together with the major economic drivers of Canary Wharf, Stratford City and the 2012 Games. In the Lower Lea Valley, the Corporation’s programme of projects is expected to deliver by 2016: 4,300 new homes, 2,900 new jobs, £1.3billion of private sector investment, 36 hectares of remediated brownfield land, 160,000 square metres of new commercial space and 190,000 square metres of new or refurbished green and open space.
