Limehouse Quay: background
The River Lee Navigation and its tributaries have been at the heart of the life and economy of east London for generations. The London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games, and the construction of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link and nearby Stratford City, provide a superb opportunity to breathe new life into the river and create a world-class waterway legacy for London. The vision for the Lower Lea Valley is for a new waterside destination where regeneration starts from the water and use of the rivers is maximised for people, leisure, business and transport.
The Lower Lea Valley has enormous, unrealised potential for a range of modern commercial boating opportunities. Mixed mooring schemes – combining residential, commercial and leisure moorings, provide the widest opportunities for animating waterways, introducing a greater presence in previously derelict areas and improving safety.

Limehouse Quay forms part of this overall vision and is the first commercial opportunity available for tender within this strategy.
