Apsley Marina on the Grand Union canal

Water Sales

Water is one of British Waterways' most precious resources and our waterway network holds an estimated 200,000 megalitres, the equivalent of two billion bathtubs. British Waterways is a provider of unprocessed water to many sectors of business in England, Scotland and Wales.

Why choose canal water?

Treated water is not always required or desirable, nor is paying high drainage charges for clean water. British Waterways can provide a 'take and return' facility.

Our water is currently being used for a wide range of businesses including:

  • Public water supply
  • Air Conditioning
  • Cooling eg cables
  • Manufacturing eg concrete, pottery, glass, etc
  • Emergency fire protection
  • Supplying power stations

Canal water is competitively priced and is cost effective compared with mains water.
